"Just another Traumatic Monday..."

Well, I know it's been a while since I've posted on Will's blog and unfortunately this entry is not a happy one. Yesterday, Will and I were coming out of the dermatologist's office into the parking garage and, without Mommy noticing where his hand was, the large metal outside door began to close while Will's fingers were in the crevice between the door hinges and the door jam. Will started screaming and as soon as I realized what had happened, we raced back into the derm's office (thank goodness the doctor is also a friend!) and we were quickly escorted into a treatment room so they could assess the damage. Will's middle finger had a huge gash and the ring finger had lost a nail and they said we would definitely need stitches so they suggested heading to a hand surgeon, so after a quick call to Daddy (who rushed to meet us), off we went. The doctor at the hand specialist was wonderful (and it turned out his kids go to Westminster, so we knew of him, which was great) and the nurses were in love with Will!! They even bandaged up his bear that he was hugging during all of this (see photos) so he could see that it was okay to have a bandaged hand. After 7 stitches on his middle finger and some instructions about how to change his bandage, we were finished! When we got home, Will got to have whatever he wanted so he asked for his 2 favorite things -- Elmo and Milano cookies!! Mom made it through okay too, but it was definitely a very stressful afternoon to have your child in so much pain and bleeding....thank goodness for Daddy who has been through this 4 times already! :) Will must have also gotten Daddy's toughness because he doesn't even seem to be bothered today at all about his hand.
